The project aims to analyze the feasibility of using residual heat that is generated by certain industrial or domestic production processes and their transformation into electrical energy by means of thermoelectricity, in particular making use of the Seebeck effect. Energy recuperation from residual heat is not only an attractive proposition for industrial processes as a means of saving energy and extending the useful life of machinery, but it is also undoubtedly a way of contributing to environmental protection as it decreases the energy needs by exploiting unused heat sources. This project will identify those sources of heat in which the application of thermoelectricity is most competitive, and will also take into account the state of the technological development of thermoelectric materials. Economic, technical, and environmental criteria will be the determining factors as regards the feasibility of the application or not of the aforementioned characteristics.
